Realistically, will your neighbors, family members, and work colleagues know if you file for Bankruptcy?

Realistically, your neighbors, family members, and work colleagues will know only if you tell them or if you owe them money and list them on your bankruptcy petition.  The court sends a “Notice of Bankruptcy” to each creditor listed on your petition.

Bankruptcy is a matter of public record, there are people who search the bankruptcy court records daily and sell the information, the name and case number of people who filed for bankruptcy, to creditors.  Your creditors will know.
